Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. This is the case in the U.S. and worldwide. More than half of all people who die due to heart disease are men.

Does old age cause death?

Aging — in and of itself — is not a cause of death.

When most of us say that someone died of old age, what we really mean is that someone died as a result of an illness (like pneumonia) or as a result of an event (like a heart attack) that a healthy, stronger, younger person would likely have survived.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention keeps track of what people actually die from in the United States. In 2020, the CDC said the number one cause of death for people over the age of 65 in the US was heart disease, followed by cancer, COVID-19, cerebrovascular disease (which often leads to strokes), and Alzheimer’s.

These « old age » fatalities are often quiet deaths, like what happens when you hear an older person’s heart stopped in their sleep. That usually means the person had a heart attack in the middle of the night. Another example is if someone « had a bad fall, and it was just downhill from there. »The person likely broke a hip, survived the surgery, but then got pneumonia and died as a result of their infection.

Were Kenny and Dolly lovers?

Sept. 27, 2013— — Rumors about whether country music icons Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers were romantically involved have circulated for decades, but in an interview with « Good Morning America, » the two set the record straight.

« Never, » Parton said. « It never crossed our minds because he was with people. … I’ve been with my husband for 48 years. That’s not to say I’m blind or dead. »

« She never thought I was handsome, » Rogers teased.

« I’d always thought he was handsome, » Parton said. « I just never thought of him that way. … I liked him too much. That would screw up everything. »

Although the two have appeared on stage together numerous times over the years and even did a movie in 1985 called « Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton: Together, » they insist nothing romantic ever happened between them.

« We never consummated anything, » Rogers said, laughing. « We just teased each other all [about] it. »

« We never even flirted, not in that way, » Parton said.

« But you see all us on stage and I’ll guarantee you everybody thinks we did, » Rogers added.

Both country music legends have been popular targets for the tabloid press over the years. Parton said one of the worst rumors ever printed about her was when tabloids claimed she had Burt Reynolds’ child, which wasn’t true.

« My husband took a picture of me and my little dog, » she said.

What did Dolly Parton say when Kenny Rogers died?

It’s been nearly three years since the world lost Kenny Rogers, but his dear friend and musical partner Dolly Parton still thinks of him often.

« I miss him so much, » Parton, 77, tells PEOPLE in a recent interview about her dear friend, who died of natural causes at 81 in March of 2020. « I’ve lost so many wonderful people in my life in the last few years. But Kenny — he was very, very dear and special and I never get tired of hearing us sing, all the years that we were on stage together. »

One of the songs that Parton says she has the best memories of singing with Rogers on is « Islands in the Stream, » the dynamic duet that gave the pair a No. 1 hit on the pop charts in 1983.

Does Dolly Parton have child?

Country legend Dolly Parton is beloved by listeners of all ages, but despite her large family and her strong bond with kids, she and husband Carl Dean have never had children of their own. And according to Parton, that’s the way it was meant to be.

In an interview with the Today show, Parton talked to host Matt Lauer to promote her first children’s album, I Believe in You. She also works with kids through her charity Imagination Library, which has provided nearly 100 million free books to young children.

During the interview, Parton said fate led her to be a mother to everyone instead of just a mother to her own children. « God has a plan for everything, » she said. « I think it probably was his plan for me not to have kids so everybody’s kids could be mine. And they are now. »

Previously, Parton has said she used to regret not having children, but now doesn’t feel that way, and has instead become close to her younger siblings and her nieces and nephews.

Why did Kenny Rogers quit singing?

Kenny Rogers, a prolific singer who played a major role in expanding the audience for country music in the 1970s and ’80s, died on Friday at his home in Sandy Springs, Ga. He was 81.

His death was announced by his publicist, Keith Hagan. Mr. Hagan did not specify the cause but said Mr. Rogers had been in hospice care. Mr. Rogers retired from performing for health reasons in 2018.

Singing in a husky voice that exuded sincerity and warmth, Mr. Rogers sold well over 100 million records in a career that spanned seven decades. He had 21 No. 1 country hits, including two — “Lady,” written and produced by Lionel Richie, and “Islands in the Stream,” composed by the Bee Gees and performed with Dolly Parton — that reached No. 1 on the pop chart as well.

By the time he stopped performing, Mr. Rogers had placed more than 50 singles in the country Top 40, of which 20 also appeared in the pop Top 40. Long before the ascendancy of Garth Brooks and Shania Twain in the 1990s, he was among the first country artists to sell out arenas.

Mr. Rogers’s popularity stemmed partly from his genial persona and rugged good looks, but also from his ability to inhabit his material, which, he often said, was of two main types: love songs like “You Decorated My Life” and narrative ballads like “The Gambler” and “Lucille.”

“All the songs I record fall into one of two categories, as a rule,” he said in a 2012 interview with NPR. “One is ballads that say what every man would like to say and every woman would like to hear.
